PROJECT: GRAND UNION CANAL TRANSFER
CLIENT: AFFINITY WATER, SEVERN TRENT & THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST

The Grand Union Canal Transfer is a vital new scheme to bring water from the Midlands to the Southeast.

It’s a joint water transfer project between two water companies, Severn Trent and Affinity Water, and the Canal & River Trust, the charity that owns and cares for the canal network in England & Wales.

The aim of the scheme is to secure a sustainable water supply for the future, for everyone who needs it. The project is at an early planning stage, with local community consultations scheduled to take place as well as the process of engaging with local councils and other stakeholders.

OBJECTIVE

To create an illustration of a canal-based scene which would highlight just how important canals are for communities and nature/wildlife. FOR PEOPLE - for relaxation, exercise, being able to enjoy nature, and somewhere to spend time with others, and FOR NATURE- as a natural habitat for a wide range of wildlife and plant species. Clean and unpolluted water is crucial for all!

This initial illustration is to be used across various communications collateral - brochure, website, posters, postcards and event display boards/banners.

Here are some close-ups of the completed illustration…

The illustration was created to tie in with a new brand and colour palette, created by Fred Design

A small selection of elements were extracted from the main illustration for use as stand-alone illustrations across print and digital materials relating to the project.

PROCESS
