A collection of images from my sketchbook (including digital images created using the iPad Pro) and some 'work in progress' shots to show a little more of my thought and image processes, as well as developing styles.

Playing with shapes, colour and texture. Shapes derived from offcut paper - basically the bits left from where I’ve cut shapes for use in other projects…
I photographed the cut paper which is effectively like a stencil, converted it to vectors and then had fun making compositions in Illustrator from overlapping some of the various pieces. I’ve also added in some other patterns, textures and drawn bits I’ve been working on recently…
These are just experiments really, quite abstract and not of anything in particular, although with a potential map application in mind…
Playing with some textures, patterns and shapes. A combination of ink lines, doodles and squiggles along with some general mark making and cut paper shapes… All made into vectors and brought into Illustrator. I then had some fun making patterns from the various elements, before piecing these together as a little test.
Sketchbook doodles, layered up on Procreate
Hop - Skip - Jump …Playing around with simple shapes and colour
Some illustrations of buildings around Thornbury, the little town where I live just north of Bristol, created on the iPad using Procreate
I’ve recently started running. I’ve also started illustrating some of the things I see while I’m out - Pictured above is what I’ve drawn so far #ISpyWhileRunning
Above: Some textures created with brush and ink, to add as surface detail in a mural art piece I created for Rutherford Cancer Centres. The textures were photographed, converted to vectors and coloured digitally. See if you can spot them in the completed artwork here
People Doodlin'... on Procreate
Meet the Lemonheads....
Cut paper shapes used as source materials to create an abstract piece around the idea of ' a collection of things from the beach'. The image below was worked up on the iPad Pro using Procreate.
Enjoying playing with simple shapes, using Procreate on the iPad Pro...
The next couple of images were done on the iPad Pro using an Apple Pencil and Adobe Draw. Some quick character drawings, playing about with the different brushes. I really like the fact that anything drawn in Adobe Draw is vector... This will be great for me creating vector elements to take over to the Mac and use in Adobe Illustrator.
These are sketchbook pages done whilst on holiday in Crete, with a minimal kit of pens, Sharpies & some Washi tape....
Posca Doodle Dude and Dudette....
'Sven' - Acrylic on plywood.
Working on developing a new character style, based around simple shapes and overlaying colours. An approach that could easily translate into my digital work. I like the organic nature of shapes created by hand though...
'Olga'
Mix 'n' match characters... with cut paper shapes and Posca pen >
A week of hand drawn letters. Days of the week M to S, when it got to Sunday I didn't feel like doing another S, so did Z instead.... Zzz-unday, the day of rest :-)
Interested in drawing with shapes (cut from coloured paper) and adding detail with simple pen lines. I like the feel of these with a minimal colour palette. Reckon the style could easily translate to my vector work.
